WILL GLAHE AND HIS ORCHESTRA

Internationally famous accordion soloist and band-leader Will Glahe makes his debut in phase 4 stereo with a vivid musical portrayal of the sights and scenes of Bavaria and neighboring Austria. The infectious jollity of the polka and the nostalgic strains of the Viennese waltz combine to transport you to this beautiful corner of Europe on a magic carpet of superb sound. The hearty good-fellowship of a Munich “Hofbrau,” the gaiety of a Bavarian village festival, echoes of old Vienna—these are the images conjured up as Will Glahe leads his talented musicians through twelve varied and richly characteristic selections.

Will Glahe, born in the Rhineland, laid a firm foundation for his musical activities with his studies at the Cologne Conservatory. Piano and conducting were his special subjects and he numbered Herman Abendroth among his teachers. Later he turned to the field of light music., and in 1932 first recorded with his own orchestra.

Success followed success, and apart from his many hit recordings other highlights of Will Glahe’s career have included television and concert engagements, international tours (his first visit to the United States.earned him the title of “The Polka King” and included appearances with artists such as Fats Domino and Glenn Miller) and film work. Glahe and his orchestra also participated in the very first German television experiments. ”

One “of the pioneers in his particular field of light music, Will Glahe’s international popularity is richly deserved. Journey with him in Bavaria and discover why.
